Yesterday I learned that my court date has been pushed out to November 18th. I will survive 5 more days but I'm pretty anxious as it is. Most court dates scheduled were changed due to a misinterpretation and some were pushed out to December, so I'm feeling very fortunate. Other families learned this weekend that their cases are being held up because their paperwork is not complete, when months ago everything appeared to be in order. We do not know what this means or what changed, but I did not receive the same cryptic e-mail several others received saying "not paper ready", so I hope this means my paperwork is good to go.
This morning I mailed off my updated homestudy to immigration. I also realized late last night when reading the fine print on a document that my fingerprints are out of date.... again. They expired October 19th and I do not know how I missed it. !!!!!! From my count, I've had at least 10 sets of prints made so far for various reasons. Although I do recognize government concerns that I could have been very naughty the past year, could have held up a bank, stolen a candy bar from the mini-mart, or worse, that I'm evading taxes, what I fail to understand is why they just can't reprocess the prints they have on file. They are "live scan" and are sent electronically. I guess they want to make sure a warm body is still attached to the fingers containing the prints. Maybe I should ask them why. Maybe I had better just smile and nod.
And the leaves are finally turning! My bradford pear is dropping leaves and berries all over my front yard. The leaves are a burgundy red and they are falling off as soon as they turn. We get cheated a little on the fall color down here in Texas, but I'm still wearing shorts and my beloved flipflops. No complaints.
A few weekends ago, a girlfriend and I went to the Dallas Arboretum for their pumpkin display. It was packed with families, taking photos of their children, some in costumes. There were actually a few wedding receptions on the grounds as well. That's always fun to see. The day was absolutely perfect, the trees were all still green and the grounds were just fantastic. I have never seen so many pumpkins in one place before, aside from the pumpkin patches I've been to. They were lining the sidewalks, floating in fountains and stacked in heaps. I can't wait to go next year with little Miss A. for some photo opportunities!
