The fingerprinting appointment was in the mail today. I was so excited when I saw the envelope! I was not so excited when I saw my appointment date was December 17th. Ugh. So far away! Still, I will take it. After the appointment I will wait for my I-171H form and then I can be scheduled for an embassy date, then book my travel. The trip is January at the earliest I'm thinking. Although this was what I expected to happen, I was hopeful that somehow I'd get a break and things would happen quickly.
I'm fighting to see the positive aspect here. I have more time to get the yard in shape, paint the exterior woodwork, and get myself back to the gym, and I get to see Sherlock Holmes on Christmas day. Plus I just got my very first camcorder. It would be a good idea to learn how to use it before the trip. These are all sweet lemons rationalizations, I know. I am bummed but I need to be happy that I've made progress today.
For all of you out there waiting in anticipation for something good like this to happen, being told to wait longer, being told no, feeling let down and delayed, put off until next month or three months from now or indefinitely, I know how you feel. We just have to keep our eyes on the prize. All that is worthy of waiting for will just be that much more fulfilling, right?
So I will focus on today. And today I have a severe sore throat. Not happiness. I'm going to gargle some more salt water and call it a night. I had the flu exactly this time last year when Robbie was traveling through on his way to the east. I do hope this is just a cold.

Hey, I don't know if this helps or not but for the San Antonio USCIS office you can go any Saturday! All you have to do is take your paperwork, ie. apppointment letter and forms of id. I can't remember what else, but I took my complete folder just in case. You might see if you have this option for your office. USCIS doesn't advertise this and I lost a month during my first adoption.
Doesn't it just seem like every good piece of news comes with something that seems to extend the wait?? UgHHHHHHHHHHH.
I am right there with you--trying to rationalize and think of reasons why this wait is good news--more time to get her room ready, time to buy a camcorder (I have never had one) and other things that seem so unimportant compared to traveling. I am waiting for my FBI clearance so I can send my paperwork to Russia. Waiting seems to be the name of the game.
However--you are right--keep your eye on the prize and everything we are having to do it so worth it.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Good luck on your trip to the fingerprinting office. I had some small setbacks today--blogged about it.
