A. has been home nearly two months. It is so hard to believe that my family leave is rapidly reaching the end. Tomorrow we have another daycare pre-K visit. I'm hoping to stay the entire day with her and then we will go another day this week. Next week I will "step out" and try to transition her to being in the classroom without me. I hope to have her going at least half the week on her own for a portion of each day. The teacher is very understanding and I'm thankful she is allowing me to be part of her classroom for a few days.
I wrote down some words and phrases that have been recently uttered around the house since I can't seem to capture them on video these days. A. has grown weary of the paparazzi and screws up her face or hides every time I break out the camera or camcorder lately. I'm trying to replace these phrases with American ones for fear that no one will understand her. I have trouble myself with her unique language. Tonight she said "bok" about twenty times and it wasn't until I put her to sleep that I realized she was saying "book". Oopsie, I didn't read her one tonight and she was trying to let me know she had one picked out.
Bok = book
Bibi mackeena = go in the car
Beeeg Red = Clifford the Big Red Dog
Cam Foo Foonda = Kung Fu Panda
Win la Poo = Winnie The Pooh
Monkey = Curious George
desta = happy
woosha = dog
feh jerro = refrigerator
zees wannnn = this one
borse or pahkhet = purse (I assume she's saying that a purse is a really big pocket)
bah-lay = play
poe pull = purple
tank yew so motch = thank you so much
sunglass = necklace or sunglasses... whichever she is wanting
johrees = i thought this was jewelry but i think it is the translation for ears
ond = on
sohree = jeans
short = shirt
becka = done
chotkabay = louder... sometimes she says low-dah
sahwingg = swing at the park
sebbenuh = seven-up
elebendywan = the number that comes after 29, duh!
me love = I love
yoosohfonny = mom, you are the funniest lady I have ever met
kishmo = kiss (she's directing me to kiss her babydoll)
catchenn = pick me up please
zeynab = rain
bunna = coffee
ewedeshalo = i love you
woo dit shu? = do you like? She says "wu dit shu no" about 100 times a day.
oop eez = oopsie
issokhay = its okay
tootoe = bottle
sit down = this means many things... to put something away, to sit down, to lay something down
soft = toilet paper
come in = come visit me, come sit with me
good job yah? = did I do this right?
toeboddo = potato
mo mo = more
acobado = avocado
popcorn = popcorn or corn or corn on the cob
pity = pretty
So a sentence might go like this, "toeboddo feh jerro, sit down no, woosha eat no, bibi mackeena, peanut butter becka, mo mo." It means "please do not throw away the leftover potatoes on my plate, please put them in the refrigerator so I can eat them later. Absolutely do not feed these precious potatoes to the dogs. And by the way, we are running low on peanut butter so we need to get in the car to go get more, pronto."

Wow--you have captured her language so well. I can never make out any sentences yet. Maybe I am not listening close enough. I am starting the day care transition in a couple weeks too--not looking forward to that but have to work.
She sounds absolutely adorable and what a great Mommy you are--isn't that a great word?
I love this post!!! So glad A (and you too!) are doing well. Her English is coming along so wonderfully and I bet it will improve by leaps and bounds once she's in school too. Love reading your blog and keeping up on little Miss A. We may be in TX the weekend of April 18th. If you're around we'll have to meet up!
Andrea--So glad to hear all is going well.
I am impressed with your list of words and your understanding of her language.
I should list the words that Hannah uses but I haven't. she still rattles off sentences to me in Russian and I don't have a clue what she is talking about. I actually think she is between languages now as her words are sounding more like just sounds and she is using more gestures--maybe losing Russian already but not speaking English yet--i don't really know. I am hoping for the day when I can understand her better.
A is a gorgeous girl. Isn't life grand?
awwwww. so sweet cute and adorable!! so happy for you two!!
