Heading home

After the embassy date on the 14th I felt so much better.  We still had to go the next day to the baby house again where the office was, to get A's passport and visa.  I realized at that point that I hadn't taken many photos of the surroundings.  One thing in particular that fascinated me was  the scaffolding around the construction of buildings.  It was made of eucalyptus branches.  I never saw anyone on the scaffolding, but I imagine when there was work being done, people were all over it, sans harnesses and tethers.  Working in manufacturing, it is just understood that any time we're standing on something above 6 feet from the ground, we are tethered to structure.  It would not seem to be the case here.

Also, there is an abundance of sheep everywhere.  We thought they were goats at first.  Not something you expect to see while driving through the city.  This little hill was on a switchback we passed while doing a bit of shopping.

We did actually stop to let a stray donkey cross the road at one point.  There were mangy looking cats and dogs lurking around the town as well.  We also saw something akin to buzzards once.  That was the extent of the wildlife.

We ended up going back to the same street of stores two days in a row.  I got A. some traditional clothing, one for now and one for when she is older.  We also picked up some wooden carved animals, some scarves, a beaded bowl and some keychains. Off to get 3 bags of Ethiopian coffee, then some music for my brother.  I played one of them recently for A. and realized each song had music videos. She loves them!  I'm going to have to go on Youtube and try to find some more.

From our hotel window we could see a family washing clothes.

Preparing for the trip home, A. seems to be ready!

Our flight home was long, arduous, but we did alot of sleeping and movie watching.  A. was not liking the movies, her earphones kept falling out, and I woke her each time the food came by, but it was a good first trip.  We had a little shopping and stretching time in Amsterdam and got some food, chocolates, and a funny little neck pillow for A.

Hooray, we made it home!
